Musings -Chasm

I said to the world, “Oh what a difference there is between you and me! Oh what a chasm between the earth where you and I stand.” At first I’d thought it was because of my situation, my upbringing, my helplessness. But though I now walk on the pathway away from bad things, the chasm still remains.

The chasm does not sadden me. Indeed, I am glad about it sometimes when the grass at your end looks a dull colour. But it makes me wonder, always, ever since I could think, about why it exists? Aside from my background, essentially I am what you are in appearance.

But that is where the similarity ends. My brain might look the same as yours but the thoughts running through them are so very different. My priorities, my outlook towards life, my dreams and goals differ so much from yours though we stand at the same place in our lives. Though we look down from the same mountain, our views are so different. You might say that it is because everyone has a different view. But that’s not true. Everyone’s views relate in some way. Some see autumn leaves falling from trees, some see meadows with bright sunshine, some see rain soaking the green bushes while I see fairies flying above a grand lagoon.

The chasm is permanent. Of this, I am sure. It might lessen or broaden as time flows by but it will remain.
